Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia State. It is situated on the west coast of the Saint Vincent Gulf north of the Fleurieu Peninsula.
The city was founded in 1836 as the planned capital for the only freely-settled British province in Australia.

Gawler the oldest town in the state of South Australia is located about 50 km north of Adelaide. It was founded in 1839 and incorporated as a town in 1857. Gawler is now considered as an outer northern suburb of Adelaide.
