Dresden is the capital city of the German state
of Saxony. It is situated along the River Elbe.
The area was settled in the late 12th century and early growth is associated with the eastward expansion of Germanic peoples. In 1806, Dresden became the capital of the Kingdom of Saxony established by Napoleon. Dresden is one of the most visited cities in Germany.

Nuremberg is the second-largest city
of the German federal state of Bavaria. It first was mentioned in 1050 as a location of Imperial Castle. The city lies about 170 kilometres north of Munich. Nuremberg was the site of major Nazi rallies, and it provided the site for the Nuremberg trials.
