Our family immigrated to Canada from St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1992 and settled in Toronto, Ontario.
The first several years had gone to cope with usual emigrant issues: language, jobs, making friends, mastering driving and so on. Having close relatives helped a lot, as well as Canadian politeness, tolerance and patience.

After we became reasonably comfortable and established, at the end of 1990s we resumed our hobby: history, architecture and lanterns. So far we explored only two provinces: Ontario and Quebec. Lanterns we found in cities and towns in both provinces are presented on our site. We hope to add lanterns in other provinces as well.
