Quebec:
Stanstead

Stanstead is located in Quebec Eastern Townships on the Canada-USA border. The border goes right through the town dividing it in Stanstead (Canada, Quebec)) and Derby Line (USA, Vermont).
Stanstead is home to the Haskell Free Library and Opera House — the only heritage building deliberately constructed straddling the border between both countries.

The area was settled at the end of 1790s. Three towns Stanstead Plain, Rock Island and Beebe Plain were merged into Town Of Stanstead in 1995.

For two weeks in July-August of 2008 we rented a cottage on Crystal Lake near Stanstead. From the cottage we drove around exploring Eastern Townships towns and visiting Montreal and Quebec city.
